3-2-1 Blastoff!

Attending grades 5-8.

2nd session begins 3/2! Other classes are 3/9. 3/16, 3/23, and 3/30 (all 5-6:30 p.m. at Odle Middle School in Room 109 with a launch date of 4/5 (11am -1:00 pm, assuming good weather!).

Build and fly your own rocket during this after-school STEM enrichment activity.  Participants, grades 5-8, learn construction techniques, discuss forces acting upon a rocket, and most importantly, how to safely have fun!  Fee: $175 (includes all rocket materials)

3-2-1 Blastoff Intermediate!

Attending grades 5-8.(Must have taken Introductory Course and have a laptop)

1st session of the intermediate course begins 4/6! Other classes are 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 6/1 and 6/8 (all 5-6:30 p.m. at Odle Middle School in Room 109 with a launch date of 6/14 (9am to Noon, assuming good weather!).

Build and fly your own rocket during this after-school STEM enrichment activity.  Participants, grades 5-8, build on the construction techniques learned in the first course, discuss new forces acting upon a rocket, and most importantly, how to safely have fun! In this course you will build better rockets and utilize data collection and analysis software to improve your rockets! !  *Required completion of Introductory Course. Chemistry Wizards!

Would your child be interested in learning about color changing reactions and performing chemical experiments? Chemistry Wizards is a fun-filled week-long summer camp for kids who enjoy exploring the world around them! The young scientists in this class will learn about the periodic table of elements, density and do some actual chemistry experiments! This camp is taught by experienced elementary school teachers who developed the curriculum with a high school chemistry teacher who has been passionately teaching for 10 years!  Fee: $274 (cost includes a camp t-shirt!)

Did your child enjoy the original Chemistry Wizards camp and they are not yet old enough to take one of our chemistry camps designed for middle school-aged students? Math Heroes!

Math will come alive for you in this camp! There will be brain teasers, art projects with math, math games and math puzzles! Come find the fun in math as you get to solve exciting problems like the angular velocity of a bicycle, the use of triangles in bridge building and even the measurement of mountains! Campers will gain advanced mathematics skills through fun exploration and discovery. We’ll use hands-on activities to allow you to go further faster in your mathematics knowledge! In this exciting camp you will take a mathematical journey through puzzles and mysteries! Campers will gain self confidence in math skills through fun explorations and discovery. We’ll unlock the mysteries surrounding the elusive solution of “x” and other mathematical adventures! Prerequisites: A love for learning mixed with drops of silliness! Math can seem freaky at times with all of those fractions and decimals! In this camp, we’ll practice adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing those “freaky” numbers! Get ready to be “that kid” in math class who knows how to deal with the freaky parts in math! Oceans of Fun!

The ocean will come to life as your child explores the animals that inhabit our amazing seas. Oceans of fun is a fun-filled week long summer camp. Each day your child will focus on a different group of animals; including Sharks, Mammals, Cephalopods (Squid and Octopus), Fish, and Crustaceans (Crabs, Lobster, and Shrimp).  This camp includes hands on activities designed to help students understand the special adaptations these organisms have for life in the sea, including model building and Gyotaku (Japanese Fish Painting). Fee: $274(cost includes a camp t-shirt!)*

Marvelous Medicine

If you’re interested in medicine and how your body works, then this camp is for you! You will learn how to use the language and tools of real doctors as we explore the major organ systems of the body! Smart Art!

Learn to express the world around you through an academic focus. We will explore artists and techniques through math and science! Mathematicians and Scientists can be as creative as painters and artists! Students will learn how art, math and science intertwine to make magic! We will play with different kinds of paint, drawing techniques, collage, and portraits. No prior experience is necessary for you to enjoy yourself in this class! Money Matters: Get Smart!

Money Matters: Get Smart engages students at an early age to understand financially responsible practices. Opening a savings account and establishing credit early is only part of the equation. Young adults rarely understand how to manage their money early on. In this camp students will learn the value of saving money and establishing a financial record that will ensure they are ahead of their peers! It involves plenty of engaging hands on activities! Money Matters: Get Rich engages students at an early age to learn how to make their money work for them! Investing in passive and active opportunities to show them bank accounts aren’t always the best place to leave your money. In this camp students will learn the value of investing in their future in a way that is sure to lead to greater wealth! It is all in good fun and the camp does not use actual money. This camp is designed to give students with an interest in science a chance to get hands-on experience with lab equipment and perform tons of chemical reactions! Campers will learn the chemistry behind fire, tie-dye, color-changing reactions and so much more!!! Ready for your learning to go nuclear? Let’s do this! YES, there will be explosions (don’t worry, no nuclear explosions!)! In this camp we’ll dive into organic chemistry, nuclear chemistry and nanotechnology to name a few topics! Rapid Math!

What’s the big deal with high school math anyway? Are you a strong math student looking to gain an edge over your peers? Take Rapid Math and you get the chance to preview every high school math class up through basic calculus (AP Calculus will have to wait!). We will start the journey in geometry, move through trigonometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus, AP statistics basics and conclude with a touch of calculus concepts! Crime Scene Sleuths!

Entering grades 7-10

Ever wondered how crime scene investigators use their science skills to solve mysteries? Come learn about some of their best crime solving tricks including how they collect and analyze fingerprints, carpet fibers, and DNA, and much, much more. Then, use your new found skills to crack a case of your own. Just like C.S.I.!!This course introduces campers to a mix of the biology, physics, chemistry, and math used by real forensic scientists. Pre-Med Biology!

Dreaming of becoming a doctor? Or are you a big fan of biology? In this camp you will learn how to use the language and tools of real doctors as we explore diseases of the major organ systems of the body. After learning how cells work, you will learn the causes of diseases, as well as how to treat them. All campers will have the option of dissecting a fresh cow heart and lung. Pre-Engineering!

What do the words plan, design, build, test, and adjust have in common? Engineering, of course! In this camp, students will take a tour of common themes present in the study of engineering. The Elements of Art are the basic building blocks used to create artwork.  The Principles of Design are the ways that artists use those elements to create art.  Come and learn how to recognize, critique, and most importantly put it all together to create your own works of art.  We will be taking a look at several artists, creating an interactive resource sketchbook, and creating our own unique works of art.  Fee: $274 (cost includes a camp t-shirt!)*

Baking 101!

In this fun camp, young chefs will explore the world of baking and pastry. The instructor will introduce campers to the fundamentals of baking—from reading and following recipes to the importance of kitchen safety. Young chefs will enjoy working alongside classmates as we practice making from-scratch versions of favorites such scones, muffins, pies, tarts, pizza, cinnamon rolls, ice cream and cake. In this exciting camp, young chefs will practice essential kitchen skills and the fundamentals of cooking! Great cooking isn’t about recipes—it’s about techniques. In our classes, you’ll work together with other students in a fun, collaborative, hands-on environment led by our professional chef instructors in a commercial kitchen. Mastering the techniques of everything from sautéing to making pizza and pasta from scratch. We’ll get hands-on and cover all the basics such as rules for handling knives, knife skills, how to read and follow recipes, measuring, mixing, and the importance of kitchen safety.
